About the Author

Debra Slover is graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in Health Education. She began her career as a high school teacher and served for more than 20 years as Director of Oregon Student Safety On the Move (OSSOM).

Debra is passionate about the possibilities available to youth and adults when given the skills, recognition, and opportunity to express their leadership voices. She founded Synergy in Motion in 2003 to bring vision, relationship, creativity, and a sense of playfulness to leadership by empowering the human spirit and created Leader Garden Press in 2006 to advance this work.

She wrote U.N.I.Q.U.E.: Growing the Leader Within using the 27 years of experience she gained training, empowering, and serving over 40,000 youth and adult leaders. During this time, Debra coordinated youth-led statewide conferences, leadership camps, and national conferences. She has been a presenter at numerous national, statewide, and local conferences and seminars, and has served as President of the National Association of Teen Institutes and Chair of the Oregon Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking.

Debra lives in Albany, Oregon with her husband Terry and dog Mooko.
